The Wisdom of Harrell Beck

A Deadly But Conquerable Foe

"Feed my sheep" is not a lot of preacher poetry. It is the most practical politics I know. Because the most volatile thing in the world is human hunger and misery. C'mon Carter! C'mon Reagan! C'mon Ford! C'mon Humphrey! Tell us about world hunger! Don't stand pointing fingers at each other to see who can vilify the Federal government most in order to get to the center of it by election. God's generosity has put upon us Americans an incredible responsibility.

Hunger is a deadly but conquerable foe -- we are morally obliged to consider our lifestyles, our government priorities, and to ponder what you think it means that the average American spent $450 for defense this year and only $6 for feeding the rest of the world.*
